Our town

About The Woodlands, Texas.

A town built in a pine forest, with the trees left standing. Dr. Boss opened one office here in 2001 and has never wanted a second one.

A few highlights

  • The Woodlands was built with neighborhoods planned around the forest, not after clearing it.
  • Sterling Ridge, where our office sits, is on the west side of town.
  • Almost two hundred miles of pathways connect the villages for walking, running, and riding.
  • Trails, desks, and yard work all leave the same marks on necks, hips, and shoulders.
  • Dr. Christopher Boss has run this one office in Sterling Ridge since 2001.

A town that kept its trees.

George Mitchell started The Woodlands in the 1970s with an idea that sounded odd at the time: build the neighborhoods around the forest instead of clearing it first. Fifty years later you can still drive Woodlands Parkway at dusk under a canopy of loblolly pine and forget you are twenty-some miles from downtown Houston.

The town grew as a set of villages rather than one grid. Grogan's Mill came first. Then Panther Creek, Cochran's Crossing, Indian Springs, Alden Bridge, Sterling Ridge, and Creekside Park. Each one has its own schools, its own pool, its own shopping center where you run into people you know. Sterling Ridge, where our office sits, is the west side of that map.

What people here actually do with their weekends.

Something close to two hundred miles of shaded pathways run between the villages, and they are busy from before sunrise. People walk dogs on them, ride to school on them, and train for races on them. Northshore Park sits on Lake Woodlands with kayaks going out most Saturday mornings. The George Mitchell Nature Preserve and W.G. Jones State Forest down on FM 1488 give you real trails without leaving the county.

Then there is the built side of town. Market Street for dinner, the Waterway for a walk after, the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for a show under the pines in April before the heat sets in. Town Center fills up on a Friday night with people who worked all week in the office towers a quarter mile away.

All of that leaves marks on a body. Desks and screens stiffen necks. Trails and courts stress hips, hamstrings, and shoulders. A yard with that many pine trees means a lot of bending in October. We have been treating the same set of problems here long enough to recognize them by the season.

Why one office, for this long.

Dr. Christopher Boss finished at Texas Chiropractic College in 1998 and opened in Sterling Ridge in 2001. Since then he has been offered the usual advice about growing: add locations, add associates, add volume. He has not done it, for a plain reason. He wanted to be the one who examines you, the one who adjusts you, and the one you can hold responsible when it does not work.

Staying in one place changes what a practice can do. He has watched kids he treated for football injuries come back fifteen years later with a desk-job neck. He knows which patients garden, which ones train, and which ones will absolutely not do their exercises unless he asks about them out loud. That history is not something you can look up in a chart.

It also keeps him honest. In a town where people talk at the pool and on the sidelines, a chiropractor who keeps someone coming in for no good reason hears about it. Six Best of The Woodlands wins between 2016 and 2024 came from neighbors, which is the only crowd whose opinion he has ever cared about.

Straight talk

Dr. Boss will tell you at the start about how many visits your problem should take. If your body does not agree with that estimate, he changes the plan or refers you out. Longevity in a small town is built on that, and nothing else.

Come see the office.

We are at 6700 Woodlands Pkwy, Ste. 200, The Woodlands, TX 77382, on the west end of the parkway. Call (281) 681-2677 and someone in the office picks up. If you want the practical details first, the Woodlands page has hours, directions, and what we treat, and your first visit walks through the hour step by step.
