Before you bookWhat seeing a chiropractor actually does.
Plain answers about what happens in our office, what it is worth, and how to tell whether your problem belongs here or somewhere else.
What a visit gives you
- An exam tells you whether a joint, a disc, or a nerve is the cause.
- An adjustment restores motion to a joint that has locked up.
- Spinal decompression takes pressure off a disc that is pinching a nerve.
- You leave with a plan and a rough number of visits, not an open-ended contract.
- Some symptoms need a medical doctor instead, and we will tell you so.
You find out what is wrong.
Most people arrive knowing where it hurts and nothing else. That is a hard place to make decisions from. The first thing a visit buys you is an answer. Dr. Boss checks how your joints move, where the motion has stopped, and whether a nerve is involved. Then he shows you the spine on a 3D model and points at the level he is talking about.
Knowing the difference matters. A stiff joint and a disc pressing on a nerve both hurt in the low back. They need different plans. Guessing costs you weeks.

Joints that stopped moving start moving again.
That restored motion is the whole point. When a segment of your spine stops moving the way it should, the segments above and below take on work they were not built for. That is where the ache, the stiffness and the guarding come from.
Getting motion back takes the load off the parts that have been covering. Many people feel looser the same day, though that is not everyone. Holding it takes a few visits and some work on your end.
Pressure comes off the nerve.
Leg pain, numbness and tingling usually trace back to a nerve under pressure in the low back, not to the leg itself. Non-surgical spinal decompression opens space between the vertebrae so the disc can pull back off that nerve. That is a mechanical problem with a mechanical answer, and it is one of the clearest cases where this office helps.
You get a plan with an end to it.
You leave the first visit knowing what we found, what we are going to do, and roughly how many visits it should take. No open-ended contract. If we are three weeks in and you are not moving in the right direction, we say so and we change course.
Chiropractic is good at mechanical problems. Joints, discs, nerves under pressure, posture that has hardened into pain. It is not the answer for everything, and an honest office tells you which one you have.
You learn how to keep it from coming back.
Getting out of pain is the first half. The second half is the work you do at home: a few stretches, a little strength, and a change to whatever position you sit in for eight hours a day. That part is boring and it is the part that holds.
When you should see a medical doctor instead.
Call your physician or go to an emergency room, not here, if you have any of the following:
- Loss of bladder or bowel control, or numbness through the groin and inner thighs
- Sudden weakness in a leg or foot that is getting worse
- The worst headache of your life, coming on in seconds
- Back pain with fever, unexplained weight loss, or a history of cancer
- Pain after a fall or a crash where you hit your head or lost consciousness
If you are unsure, call us and describe it. We would rather point you to the right place than book a visit that does not help you.
What a first visit looks like.
Plan for about an hour. You fill out a short bit of paperwork, sit down with Dr. Boss and tell him what is going on, get examined, look at the model together, and leave with a plan. We tell you what it costs before you commit to anything. Here is the whole thing, step by step.

This page is general information, not medical advice. What is right for you depends on your exam. Dr. Boss will tell you straight whether we can help, and where to go if we cannot.
One visit tells you what you are dealing with.
Come in, see it on the model, leave with a plan. Same-day most days.
