About an hour, start to finish. You talk, Dr. Boss examines you, you see your own spine on a 3D model, and you leave with a plan you could explain to someone at home.
The whole visit, in four steps.
There are no surprises in this. Here is the order it happens in.

Welcome and paperwork
You check in at the front desk and fill out your health history. Give it fifteen minutes. If you send your insurance details when you book, most of this is already done before you sit down.

Sit down with Dr. Boss
He asks questions first, because your history narrows things down faster than anything else. When it started. What you were doing. What makes it worse. Whether anything travels down an arm or a leg. Then he examines you: how you bend and turn, which joints move and which have stopped, and how your nerves are testing.

See it on the 3D model
Dr. Boss pulls up an interactive model of the spine and shows you where the problem sits. Not a poster on the wall. A model he can turn, take apart and point at while he explains what is pressing on what.

Leave with a plan
You get told what he found, what he recommends, how many visits it should take and what it costs, before you agree to anything. If chiropractic is wrong for your problem, that is the visit where he says so.
What to bring.
Bring a photo ID and your insurance card. Bring any imaging you already have, X-rays, an MRI or a CT, along with the written report if you have it. If another doctor sent you, bring their notes.
Wear clothes you can move in. Dr. Boss needs to see how you bend and turn, and stiff jeans get in the way. If your pain came from a car accident, bring the claim number and the adjuster's name.
Write down your questions before you come. People forget them the moment the exam starts.
Insurance and payment.
We take most major plans. Self-pay is available if you have no coverage or your plan does not include chiropractic.

How long it takes.
Plan on about an hour for the first visit. Paperwork, history, exam, the model and the plan all fit inside that. If Dr. Boss decides imaging is needed before he treats anything, he will tell you what and why.
Follow-up visits are much shorter. Most run fifteen to twenty minutes, longer if your plan includes decompression or massage.

You will not be asked to sign up for a year of care. You get a number of visits and a reason for that number. If you are not improving the way we expected, the plan changes or Dr. Boss refers you out.
Questions people ask before booking.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly. If your insurance requires a referral we will help you sort it out.
Does an adjustment hurt?
Most people describe it as pressure followed by relief. The joint being worked on is already sore, so there can be a moment of discomfort, and some people feel achy for a day afterward the way you would after a workout. You may hear a pop. That is gas releasing inside the joint, the same as cracking a knuckle, and it is not bone. Tell Dr. Boss the moment anything hurts and he changes what he is doing.
Is it safe?
No treatment is risk free. The usual reaction is short lived soreness or stiffness. Serious complications are rare. Some conditions make manipulation a bad idea, which is why the history and exam come first and why you should mention every condition you have and every medication you take. If Dr. Boss should not treat you, he will tell you and point you to the doctor who should. There is more detail on the questions page.
Will you adjust me on the first visit?
Only if it is right for you. The first visit is about understanding your case. Dr. Boss explains the plan before any treatment.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on what we find. You get a plan with a clear number of visits, not an open-ended contract.
Do you take walk-ins?
Call ahead when you can. We keep same-day slots open most days.
